North America

Southern charm reaches a new level at Graduate Nashville. The hotel’s design takes inspiration from nearby Vanderbilt University, the city itself and the city’s music legacy.

The feeling of the destination is immediate as soon as guests enter the lobby, where a custom 8-foot by 15-foot latch hook rug, designed by Margaret Timbrell, boasting comedian Minnie Pearl greets guests. Above the front desk, it honors Pearl, who performed for years at Grand Ole Opry and on Hee Haw. Guestroom décor continues the Nashville theme with floral bed canopies, pink-and-white striped walls, gold accents and portraits of Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton above each bed.

Speaking of Ms. Parton, the hotel’s 9 to 5 Suite honors the country queen with disco ball-tiled ceilings, pink feathers and shag carpet. Live out country music star dreams with a spacious living room, California King waterbed and decked-out décor.

Enjoy plenty of indulgent cuisine options across several food and drink outposts, starting with Poindexter, an all-day café with amphitheater-style seating. Cross-Eyed Critters Watering Hole is a first-ever animatronic karaoke bar — there’s even a back-up band of robotic musicians! White Limozeen, another nod to Parton, is an over-the-top, indoor-outdoor rooftop space serving familiar tastes driven by farmers and purveyors.

Guests can take advantage of “extra credit” classes that allow them to immerse themselves in the area’s culture, like Latch Hook 101 classes to flower arrangements and cookie decorating.

Are You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?

Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
