Egyptian Motor Hotel, boasting live entertainment, hospitality, nightlife and culinary offerings, opened recently in Downtown Phoenix. The historic hotel enjoyed a previous life as a hotel in the 1950s, before operating as a different brand for decades, reopening this year as a hotel in its original home. And with it comes the first brick-and-mortar location for Chilte, a favorite Phoenix food truck for Mexican street food helmed by Chef Lawrence Smith, a former contestant on Food Network’s Chopped.
“We are ecstatic to open our doors to this retro time capsule reimagined for nomads, locals, foodies, thrill seekers, and everyone in between. The Egyptian is a modern crash pad with a nod to the past. With an open-air entertainment venue, unique activities, a beloved food partner and retro ambiance, the hotel showcases the best of what this vibrant neighborhood has to offer,” said Gene Kornota, principal, Rebel Hospitality. “Grand Avenue’s spirit of creativity is a perfect match for the ethos of the Egyptian. We’re so grateful to have resurrected a time capsule of this important Phoenix community.”
Rebel Hospitality brought the historic building to new life with 49 retro modern rooms; Egyptian Live, a 250-seat outdoor bar and entertainment venue; adult games and activities; an Airstream guestroom; water and firepit features; and Chilte.
