Homemade candy can be a great way to please the sweet tooth in a healthier way. Without all of the artificial colors, dyes and sugars, these gummies will please candy lovers of any age.
Many of the ingredients can be substituted or swapped out for preference, but these tend to yield the best results. Start with these five ingredients: one cup of organic fruit juice, ¼ cup gelatin, one teaspoon coconut sugar, juice of half a lemon and two to three candy molds.
Mix all of the ingredients in a sauce pan constantly on low heat. Once the ingredients are well mixed and fully blended, remove from the heat and pour into the candy molds. Let the molds cool to room temperature before putting them in the refrigerator for three to five hours.
The gummies should not jiggle like Jell-O; they will be firmer and pop out of the mold once well set and refrigerated.
The candies can be saved in the refrigerator for a week or so, the freezer for longer or eaten immediately. The gummies can be a variety of shapes, styles and flavors and with such a simple recipe, anyone can try this at home.
