The beauty of a honeymoon on the southern coast of Spain is that no matter when you choose to venture off on your post-nuptial vacation, you will be met with sunny skies and warm temperatures along the Costa de Sol. From the Moorish architectural influences to the vistas of the refreshing Alboran Sea to the sub-Sierra Nevada Mountains, romance abounds along the Andalusian coastline.
Newlywed couples can either hire a car to explore the row of cities along the coast or rely on public transportation (e.g., buses and trains) to travel from Marbella to Torremolinos to Málaga.
Between hours spent lounging on the beaches and sipping cocktails, explore the region’s storied history and breathtaking views. A hike up to the Castillo de Gibralfaro offers both, with a moderately challenging pathway and rewarding views of Málaga below.
In the resort town of Marbella, stroll through the Old Town and snap photos of the colorful buildings before popping into one of the quaint restaurants for a romantic dinner. By day, try your hand at a round of golf or visit the high-end boutiques to spend some of that leftover wedding cash. Honeymooners with a bit more to spend can charter a private yacht for the afternoon or rent an ATV to roam around the foothills of the Sierra Blanca Mountains.
A couple with differing opinions won’t have much to fight about as the Costa del Sol has enough to satisfy all personalities, from beach bums to mountain folk and everything in between.
