Hit the links! August marks National Golf Month. Whether you’re a novice or a pro, take time this month to celebrate the popular pastime with our tips.
- Plan a trip to your favorite course or one you want to try. Make your summer vacation a golfing vacation. Need some inspiration? Check out this list of must-see courses from Golf Digest.
- Download golf apps. If you want help with your swing, download some of the many golf apps available on the app store. Swing by Swing, Nike Golf 360, GolfLogix and PING are all free for download.
- Invest in golf gear. National Golf Month is the perfect opportunity to build your club collection or upgrade the gear you currently own.
- Hit the driving range. If you’re a little rusty, visit the driving range to work out the kinks before you play.
- Throw a golf party and watch your favorite golf-themed movies. You can’t go wrong with a Caddyshack, Tin Cup and Happy Gilmore movie marathon.
- Teach a loved one the game. If you already consider yourself a golf pro, share your love of golf with your partner, family member or friend.

United Continues Its Global Expansion
United Airlines keeps soaring to new heights, recently announcing another expansion of its leading global route network. The airline added new non-stop flights between Newark (EWR) and Marrakesh (RAK), Morocco; Tokyo (NRT) and Cebu (CEB), Philippines; and Houston (IAH) and Medellin (MDE), Colombia. That’s not all: United also plans to increase flights to popular worldwide destinations including Hong Kong (HKG); Seoul (INC), South Korea; and Porto (OPO), Portugal. Following the recent agreement to increase flights between the U.S. and Chinese governments, the airline now adds four weekly flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Shanghai (PVG).

Where can you find the friendliest airport staff? According to Upgraded Points, at Portland International Airport. The travel company’s study focused on the 50 busiest airports, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Upgraded Points then analyzed Google and Yelp reviews for each airport, noting mentions of “friendly” or “rude” staff or TSA. Mentions were compared to the total number of reviews to calculate a ratio of positive to negative interactions, with each airport scored on a scale of 0 to 5 based on the ratio of positive mentions for a possible score of 50.
