How to Survive the Heat in the Middle East

The heat in the Middle East is no joke, and if you don’t dress appropriately you could find yourself passing out on the sidewalk and suffering from a nasty bout of heatstroke.

Avoid Layers

The last thing you want to do is bundle up, so don’t walk around with an undershirt underneath your tee. Instead, go for one layer over every part of your body that needs to be covered.

Use Lightweight Material

Sweaters are simply not an option in the Middle East. Women have the unfortunate challenge of having to cover as much skin as possible due to local customs and laws, so you should seek out the lightest material possible to drape over your arms and legs.

Apply Sunscreen

Pack multiple bottles of sunscreen, and make sure it’s the highest SPF you can find. The sun is bright, hot and relentless so you need to be applying it multiple times throughout the day. You vacation won’t be enjoyable if it hurts to move.

Drink Water

Water is your new best friend when your plane lands in the Middle East. Always have a bottle on hand and drink it often. You should be drinking more than a gallon each day and, honestly, probably somewhere closer to two.
