Icebreaker sells superior wool products for cold and warm adventures. Its Oasis line of balaclavas is one more great addition to its winter lineup.

A balaclava is a cloth accessory — not a dessert — that covers most of your head, neck and face in cold climates. Icebreaker’s extremely soft, comfortable merino wool is the ideal material, as it’s breathable, warm and naturally resistant to bacteria growth and the associated bad smells.

The product clocks in at mid-weight, so it’s not heavy enough to cause sweat and discomfort during periods of high activity. It’s also thin enough you can easily fit it under a helmet or other headwear.

The balaclava is designed with an overlap opening that allows the wearer to pull the material under one’s chin during warmer moments, or to snack or take a drink. Other savvy aspects of the design include a small ventilation flap over the mouth for better breathability, and flatlock seams to eliminate chafing.

The item is billed as unisex and one-size fits all, though smaller heads might discover some excess material and larger heads may find the stretch insufficient.
