Tips / Other

Did you make a New Year’s resolution when the clock struck 12 a.m. this January? Have you stuck to it? If you’re still hanging in there, but need some motivation to keep that resolution strong over the next 11 months, here are some tips and tricks to stay on your path — whatever it may be.

Write It Somewhere Large and Visible

Write your resolution down somewhere you’ll see every day, whether it be your mirror, your fridge, your laptop. Make sure it’s large, not easy to remove and something that will remind you every day what you’re supposed to be doing.

Partner Up

Do your resolution with someone — that way you’re not alone and have someone to motivate you through the year to keep your promise. This is even better if you can get a whole group together to keep the morale going.

Have People Hold You Accountable

Whether it’s the people you partner up with, your parents, roommates, significant other or friends, have someone reliable and trustworthy remind you of your goals and keep you motivated.

Create Milestones and Rewards

The best thing to do to keep a long-term resolution or goal is to create milestones that will make you feel accomplished along the way. Reward yourself (not with the thing you’re giving up, obviously) at each milestone with something you truly enjoy to keep yourself on track.
