Macau has a reputation for being a gambling center, with a strip of enormous casino-hotels that could easily be mistaken for Las Vegas. Gambling is a decidedly adult activity, but the city offers plenty of activities geared toward a younger crowd; the kids won’t feel left out.
Many hotels offer kids’ activities, including the Sheraton Macao, which rolls out the red carpet for youngsters. The hotel partners with Dreamworks, so kids will find the themed pool cabanas and movie nights familiar if they’ve seen movies like How to Train Your Dragon and Madagascar. Next door, the Sands hosts Shrekfast, a breakfast with meet-and-greet opportunities with characters like Shrek, Toothless and many more.
The Venetian Hotel offers gondola rides, often popular with kids, and there’s also an indoor kids zone called The Qube with a climbing wall, computer games, pool tables and more. Kids’ City, inside the City of Dreams hotel, includes a video arcade, bounce house, and jungle gyms.
And finally, the Macau Tower is a highlight for any visitor, but kids will especially enjoy the thrill of riding to the top for a view high above the city. If they’re big enough to fit into the harnesses, they can join adults on the Sky Walk, a romp around the outer edge of the tower’s viewing platform, where they can hang suspended over the city.
