The capital of Brazil is known for its intricate, modern architecture and wealth of beautiful parks in and around the city. Brasilia doesn’t exactly boast the greatest nightlife in the country, but it does have a welcoming LGBTQ+ scene.

Brazil is one of the most progressive countries in South America when it comes to gay rights, so travelers can visit larger urban areas with ease. Brasilia is one of the youngest large cities in South America, designated in 1960, and has seen its share of growing pains. However, the scenery, both natural and manmade, is unrivaled elsewhere in the world. The national park boasts an impressive array of unique wildlife in the city. The people here are hardworking and warm, with a love of music you find won’t in similar places.

There are few LGBTQ+-specific bars within city limits, but Oficina Açougue e Bar offers excellent music and a party atmosphere for all. Outro Calaf boasts a more laid-back vibe with popular Brazilian music and food alongside a diverse clientele. Government jobs are abundant in Brasilia, which means the locals tend to be rich. This has led to a wealth of excellent shopping opportunities in the city. The Conjunto Nacional is the oldest mall in the city, located in the center of the Eixo Monumental. There’s also Shopping Iguatemi where you’ll find high-end stores like Gucci and Tiffany.

Whether you’re looking for a rich cultural experience or just a destination where members of the LGBTQ+ community can explore without worry, Brasilia is a fantastic choice.
