As more people begin to travel, it seems their demands just keep getting higher. Luggage designers have begun adding smart technology to accommodate the average traveler’s needs, which is why Samsonite is unleashing a new series of GeoTrakR bags with tracking devices installed within.
The new GeoTrakR luggage bags with wheels come pre-equipped with LugLoc locating devices that’ll allow owners to know exactly where their luggage is at every moment. LugLoc is the trusted design of tracking devices widely used in luggage already. The new GeoTrakR series will connect to an app that lets you monitor your bags through your smartphone. However, it won’t allow you to track the luggage once it’s already on the plane, just before and after.
It automatically shuts itself off once the plane takes off thanks to internal sensors that allow it to tell when it’s in the air. Tracking with the GeoTrakR is not unlimited, but owners receive 30 free traces for the first year, after which you’re required to sign up for a monthly membership.
Samsonite will offer the luggage in both carry-on and traditional sizes for prices between $280 and $400 depending on the size. The luggage is expected to be on sale soon.
