Losing important items like luggage, phones and passports are constant worries when we travel. It’d be pretty hard to get around without them! That’s why the new Magpie GPS Tracker might be the most significant device hitting the market in 2018.
The company behind Magpie claims it has one of the longest reaches of any tracker available for one of the lowest prices. While most trackers rely on Bluetooth technology to operate, Magpie runs on the latest GPS technology available at a subscription service price. Rather than paying for the device itself you pay for the amount of time you want to use it — that means a year’s worth of service for one Magpie can cost less than $50.
It also comes with some really neat features — it seamlessly attaches to luggage and other immobile items so you can track their location if they’re moved, but it also attaches to things like children and pets so you know where they are at all times. You can even set up a geo-fence perimeter so you know when they step outside of it. The Magpie can also alert you if your bike or car is moving without you in it, so they’re less likely to be stolen.
The device syncs to your phone so you can receive alerts at any moment while the battery lasts anywhere from one day to three months depending on how often you use it. Magpie is also pretty durable, able to stand up to both dust and water.
With 185 countries already programmed into the tracker it seems like a great tool for the frequent traveler — especially if you have a habit of losing things. The Kickstarter for Magpie ended and the first devices are expected to roll out in February 2018.

Insta FeedAre You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?
Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
