Maracuja oil is a product from the Amazon region, extracted from the seeds or fruit of passion flowers native to the area and said to offer many health benefits. The oil is rich with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Many women use the oil on their skin and hair for moisture. Several makeup companies capitalized on this trend, including Tarte, whose Maracuja oil product has become popular among beauty and makeup bloggers.
Maracuja oils can be used on the skin as a moisturizer, and some say to battle acne, as it can moisturize without clogging pores. Others claim it has the opposite affect on certain skin types and can cause breakouts.
For those for whom it doesn’t have a negative effect, it can also lead to brighter, firmer skin as it promotes collagen production, helping women maintain a youthful glow.
The oil can also be used on hair. In small quantities it can rein in frizz and soak up dry ends, or you can use as more of a hair mask at night to wash out later. It can be used on the scalp in small amounts to promote hair growth and relieve any scalp issues you may have.
