Meet To Sleep Campaign By Blank Noise

Safety in public spaces is an issue every woman faces, not to mention female solo travelers. Blank Noise, based out of India, brings awareness to the issue with a brave campaign that both looks to create safe spaces and engage women in a community of like-minded individuals. The Meet to Sleep campaign is combating violence to women in public spaces with the most simple of tools — sleep.

In scheduled events all around India, women meet in parks to take naps in groups. Passersby and other women are invited to join. Blank Noise feels the display is a great way to highlight women being comfortable and unafraid in locations and settings they may not under different circumstances.

Meet to Sleep, which began in 2014, is not Blank Noise’s only public effort. Their award-winning Talk To Me campaign overtakes particular streets widely known as dangerous locations for women to create a space for both women and men to meet and converse in groups, sharing sidewalk tables and drinks.
