Have you used ChatGPT to help you plan a trip recently? If so, you’re not alone.
A new study from finance app MoneyLion showed 70 percent of Americans are using or plan to use AI to help them with travel, with 71 percent saying using AI to research and plan travel is easier than doing it oneself.
Other top uses for AI when planning travel, according to the survey, include finding restaurants, finding local transportation, finding flights and budgeting. However, when it comes to the budgeting element of using AI, travelers are a little more wary, with the majority worried about AI-related data breaches that may impact their finances.
The trend of using AI to plan travel is most prominent among younger travelers, ages 18–34, as well as among men and respondents from the northeastern United States. The trend is also popular among travelers with children.
However travelers get to their destinations, though, no matter if they used AI to help along the way or not, MoneyLion’s study found travelers are ready to drop some extra cash and take on debt in order to fund their 2024 travels. More than half of respondents noted they’d be comfortable taking on more than $1,000 in credit card debt to fund an upcoming trip.
