Traveling with sports equipment can be a real hassle, not to mention expensive. Mountain bikers, skiers and surfers have to pay more to take gear abroad with them, and canoeists also struggle. However, a new product aims to change all of that.

The MyCanoe is a foldaway canoe that packs down into an easy-to-carry case in just 10 minutes. Three years in the making, the canoe is an origami design that uses impressive engineering to get you and your canoe on the road.

The whole thing weighs 52 pounds and comes in a box small enough to fit under your bed. It might sound like a bizarre idea, but for anyone who likes canoeing it could be a great purchase.

While standard canoes need a huge amount of storage space, MyCanoe can fit even in the smallest of city apartments. On the water, it has space for two passengers.

If you enjoy canoeing but don’t want to pay rental fees, MyCanoe could be the way forward. It will retail for $1,590, after a successful Kickstarter campaign and you can also add two-piece collapsible paddles so you can get straight onto the water whenever you want.
