The New Mexico Museum of Art is located in downtown Santa Fe and is part of a series of museums around the area that you can access with the purchase of a $30 New Mexico Culture Pass. It’s certainly worth the price of admission.
You enter the adobe-style building through a beautiful courtyard with stone artwork serving as a towering fountain. Inside you’ll find a small museum with both modern and historical works and a rotating exhibit schedule. During my time there, I found works from Da Vinci, Rembrandt and other famous artists throughout history. Oddly, there were no works of Georgia O’Keeffe, even though she’s probably the most famous artist from the area.
The exhibits were fascinating and there are certainly some beautiful works of art hidden within. Make sure to check out the auditorium which houses even more paintings and is open to explore when there are no concerts happening. We didn’t take the opportunity to view any of the acts that play here, though I’m sure they have wonderful choices.
If you’re exploring with the Culture Pass, this is definitely a stop you should make on your tour, or even just feel free to explore it on its own.
