Love checking out the local food truck scene whenever you’re in a new city? Thanks to a new study from Clever and Roaming Hunger, you can now pick your next travel destination according to where you can find the best and most food trucks.
According to the study, Portland, Oregon, is America’s best city for food trucks, with 10.2 food trucks per every 100,000 residents. Rounding out the top five cities are: Raleigh, North Carolina; Salt Lake City, Utah; Austin, Texas; and Orlando, Florida. However, if you’re looking for the city with the most food trucks in total, not necessarily the most food trucks per number of residents, you’ll have to look to Los Angeles, which boasts the greatest number of food trucks overall at 715.
Cities to avoid if you’re looking for a great food truck scene? The study found the worst five cities for food truck dining include Virginia Beach, Virginia; Chicago, Illinois; Detroit, Michigan; Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; and Riverside, California. Out of the cities compared, Virginia Beach had the fewest overall food trucks, with just 28. This could be credited to the city’s heavy restrictions, as the study found the city enforces the most restrictions for starting a food truck out of all other destinations included in the study.
