Japanese celebrity chef Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa deliciously integrates Peruvian ingredients into Japanese cuisine. After moving to Peru from Japan to open a restaurant, he had to experiment in the kitchen due to the lack of many Japanese ingredients.
Eventually, Matsuhisa opened a restaurant in Los Angeles, where he met Robert De Niro. Together they opened a restaurant in New York City called NOBU and the rest is history. NOBU Hotels and Restaurants have opened around the world. Interestingly, this partnership led to a role for Matsuhisa in the films Casino and Austin Powers: Goldmember. Did you recognize him?
Since 1999, nearly 20 years, NOBU Malibu has earned its reputation with exceptional service and exquisite cuisine. It sits beachfront off the Pacific Coast Highway. Everywhere in the restaurant boasts magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean. Sashimi lovers will be in heaven. If you’re not in the mood for fish, try the ribeye or Kobe beef.
The restaurant now serves Nobu-style breakfast on the weekends, which includes its versions of steak and eggs and chicken and waffles. Most definitely make a reservation in advance. However, if you forget, the bar provides first come, first serve seating with the full menu.
