It seems a tall order to reinvent salad mix, but organicgirl has done just that — and succeeded. The brand makes two types of boxed greens, both of which infuse excitement into what can easily be a boring meal option.
The mixes include Sweet Pea, made with pea shoots, and Pepper Greens, which includes a few slightly peppery greens. Both are excellent, if imperfect: Sweet Pea’s pea shoots are too long and make for messy (if not delicious) eating. Pepper Greens is incredibly balanced. Both are addicting.
As the name would suggest, the greens are all organic, and the company focuses admirably on sustainability. The packaging is also 100 percent recycled plastic.
Perhaps the only real downside to these greens is their shelf life, which seems shorter than other, similar products. You probably won’t be able to keep these boxes in your fridge more than a week or so before they start to get brown and gooey, though it’s likely once you start eating, you won’t be able to leave it sitting around for long.
These salad mixes go great with the company’s line of dressings, which are a bit out of the box in terms of their ingredient combinations, but truly outstanding in flavor. They, too, have a short shelf life, but you likely won’t struggle to use them up in time.
