Adventure

While most beach sports require a vast amount of skill and effort, parasailing is a memorable beach experience anyone can enjoy. Unlike surfing, scuba diving or paddle boarding, parasailing requires minimal effort and yields spectacular views.

Parasailing has few safety restrictions and does not require exertion or even swimming skills. Parasailors are held in seated harnesses attached to a large parachute dragged by a boat. The wind and speed of the boat raise the sail and gently lift the sail and its passengers a few hundred feet in the sky. According to Federal Aviation Administration regulations, parasailors are limited to 500 vertical feet in the air.

Depending on weather conditions, sailors can ride in the sky for a few minutes or half an hour. Wear comfortable clothing — no need for a wetsuit — and secure lose articles, such as sunglasses and hats. Many companies offer photo or video packages so it’s best to leave your phone and camera on land. This leisurely activity provides a stunning aerial view and is an ideal activity for sunset or sunrise.

Unlike other watersports, parasailing is a group activity; many companies offer tandem rides or have discounts for groups. Be sure to book in advance, this leisurely activity is popular and slots fill up quickly.
