Tour operator Odysseys Unlimited introduces its Patagonia Explorer: The Best of Chile tour. The 15-day experience launches in October with 11 departures through March 2017. Guests spend time exploring Chile by land and sea with the guidance of an expert tour guide. The Lake District, Santiago and Patagonia are included on the tour, with an optional Easter Island extension.
The tour includes three days among the lakes, glaciers and forests in the Torres Del Paine National Park, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Guests take a day cruise through the Strait of Magellan to Magdalena Island and Chile’s largest penguin colony, home to more than 120,000 penguins. A day cruise to Serrano and Balmaceda glaciers take guests through snowy mountains. Other activities include a traditional barbeque ritual, cowboy rodeo, sheep-shearing demonstration, tour and meal at a mussel fishery and a wine tour and tasting.
Odysseys Unlimited specializes in small group travel, with groups of 12–24 guests. Pricing for the tour starts at $5,697, including airfare, 12-night accommodations, 29 meals (12 breakfasts, nine lunches, eight dinners), site entrance fees, private motorcoach transport and gratuities. An optional four-day excursion add-on to Easter Island is priced at $2,395, for round-trip airfare from Santiago, four-night accommodations, most meals and sightseeing. The company offers a fully refundable deposit up to 95 days before the tour. Return guests can receive $100–300 in savings per trip.
