Patagonia’s cutting-edge product design continues with its updated Black Hole line, launched earlier this year.

The new line expands on the current, respected Black Hole collection, a group of extremely lightweight yet durable travel and outdoor bags and packs. The new additions are roomy, durable and can be easily packed away into other pieces of luggage. The collection includes a range of options so buyers can pick exactly what suits their specific needs: there’s a 20- and 26-liter pack, a 30- and 45-liter duffel and a 28-liter gear tote.

Each piece is constructed with a new fabric that cuts the weight of the original Black Hole fabric in half — impressive considering the line was already remarkably light. The pieces don’t feel flimsy, and they don’t skimp on important design components that make them comfortable to use and sturdy.

Options include the Cinch Pack, a top-loading backpack with plenty of room for carrying daytrip items; it’s also hydration-system compatible. Impressively, this lightweight bag is weather-resistant, made of rip stop material and has breathable mesh shoulder straps for excellent comfort.

The other products in the line are equally impressive: The Gear Tote holds plenty, too, and can be stuffed into its own pocket for portability. The 26-liter pack weighs just 18 ounces, so it can easily be stowed in your suitcase or larger pack. And the two duffel options, a 30- and a 45-ounce, are also packable, stuff into their own pockets and hold plenty of items.

As always, you can feel good about buying from Patagonia, which continues to lead the industry in its commitment to developing quality products that cause no harm to the environment or to humanity. Patagonia is continually recognized for its activism and has given more than $78 million in grants and in-kind donations to date.
