Tips / Destination

Philadelphia is a great city with so much to offer. There is something for everyone who’s traveling through this incredible, culture-filled city. Philly offers an awesome food scene for the visiting connoisseur: the history and the arts for the classical tourist, and a plethora of activities for active travelers.

Be sure to check out any of the following local attractions.

GoVertical Rock Climbing Gym is one of the best and tallest Rock Climbing gyms on the East Coast. You can purchase daily entry passes and rent equipment.

Hiking in the Wissahickon allows you to explore nature through the local trails of the famous Philadelphia park. You will feel like you’re hiking the Appalachian Trail.

Running on Kelly Drive and the infamous Rocky Steps, you are sure to see runners every single day, year-round, making their way up the Art Museum steps where Rocky Balboa infamously ran up to “Eye of the Tiger.”

Kayaking or rowing on the Schuylkill, where Philly hosts the Dad Vail Regattas and other college boat races every year. You can also rent boats and kayaks and get out on the Schuylkill yourself.

Boot Camps by the Art Museum are a great option for those passing through that don’t have the need to join a gym. You can work out with Rocky on the Art Museum steps. Not many can say they have done that.

Find a tennis court anywhere in the city. Many neighborhoods have them and many of them are underutilized. Thanks to this great site, you can find one close to you.

Check out the Philly Golf Guide to find the closest course.

Bike-share stations have popped up in places all over the city. It is convenient to rent a bike. Check out the closest location through Indego.

Philly hosts hundreds of races, runs, bike races and triathlons every year. Check out one you can join when you’re in the area.
