Polo is generally known as an exclusive sport played by very few people around the world.
Chestertons Polo in the Park offers a chance to get to know the sport better, in the leafy surrounds of Hurlingham Park in west London. The three-day event welcomes teams from six world cities, who come to play a fast and exciting form of the game.
Polo players compete to put a small wooden ball into the opposition’s goal using a wooden stick while on horseback. If that sounds difficult, it’s probably because it is.
Playing the game might not be high on your list of priorities, but it’s fascinating to watch. At Polo in the Park, there are regular matches, alongside plenty of other entertainment.
There are bars, gardens and a grandstand from which to watch the action, and a shopping pavilion if you fancy splashing out on a souvenir. Hurlingham Park is situated in the exclusive area of Fulham, just 15 minutes from Central London, and you might well spot some celebrities in the crowd.
