A Quick Guide To Traveling With Ryanair

Tips / Travel

Ryanair is a great place to find the lowest airfares for getting around Europe, but there are a few quick tricks you should know before you pack up and head out.

Book as early as possible for the best rate

While all Ryanair flights are on the cheap side, you can get lucky and find single flights for about €5 if you book a few months in advance. Plan your trip early to save the most.

Check, double check, then triple check your carry-on bag

Make sure your main bag weighs under 10 kilograms, or they will charge you a fee, and it won’t necessarily be a small one. While standard-sized carry-on bags usually make the cut, it doesn’t hurt to measure and be 100 percent positive before your flight. Ryanair’s maximum baggage allowance size is 55 by 40 by 20 centimeters, and they also allow a smaller second item like a handbag or shop purchases, which cannot exceed 35 by 20 by 20 centimeters. If they do, you will be charged a fee.

Avoid the in-flight merchandise.

This should go without saying, but in case you’re suddenly struck with the inspiration to try the getaway breakfast, DON’T. Save your precious Euros and wait until you land, or stock up on snacks before you board. While on board, you’ll also have the option of purchasing designer fragrances, makeup and sometimes cigarettes. It’s typically not worth it.
