Amazon has been hailed one of the most innovative companies of 2017. There has been rampant speculation about where the new Amazon headquarters is going to land and its purchase of Whole Foods last August made headlines. How did Amazon change over the course of 2017?

Acquisitions, headquarters and Alexa make up some of the biggest Amazon news to date. Not only did Amazon acquire Whole Foods — giving it more than 450 brick and mortar stores across the country — it also bought Blink, a start-up out of Massachusetts that specializes in wireless security cameras and video doorbells.

Many cities are vying for the second headquarters location that would bring tax incentives and employment to whichever town is picked. As recently announced, 20 cities remain in the running. Amazon acquired more than 230,000 new employees in 2017, making it one of the fastest-growing companies around.

And then there is Alexa. This smart device far surpassed anything similar offered by Google or Apple. Alexa is not just showing up as her own device, but she is in many other products offered by Amazon, such as Echo, Fire TV, tablets and others. We can only imagine what is in store for 2018.

What to Do During a Trip to Morro Bay, California

No, it’s not Monterey Bay. We’re talking Morro Bay, California, located about a 2.5-hour drive to the south, about halfway between San Jose and Los Angeles. A quieter destination, Morro Bay offers plenty for the outdoor adventurer to enjoy.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
