Big White Ski Resort, near Kelowna in British Columbia, sets the perfect stage for a winter adventure. The low-key resort never feels overrun, and there’s always plenty of snow, even into late spring. Bring the kids, or don’t — either way, you’ll find plenty to enjoy.

Big White’s south-facing mountain is often sun drenched and balmy, with views that open to the surrounding mountains. The village is connected by a gondola that runs through its center, offering a fun — and scenic — way to get from your hotel to the ski runs.

Skiers and snowboarders have access to 15 runs that offer every level of difficulty; beginners will feel at home, but experts won’t get bored. And there are plenty of opportunities for lessons if you’re new to either sport.

Big White’s electronic lift ticket system is a convenient and fast way to maximize your time on the slopes. Simply place your card in an outer pocket — and away from a cell phone. The system speeds up what’s already likely to be short lift lines, as Big White never feels crowded, even during holiday breaks.

To take a break from skiing or try something new, the resort offers a range of activities, all of which are kid friendly: tubing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice climbing, ice skating and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
