We arrived in Tahiti early in the morning. Tired from our flight, we were anxious to check in to our room at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa. The property is located a quick taxi ride from the airport. Unfortunately when we arrived, we were much too early to check-in. The helpful front desk attendant gave us each a glass of mango juice as she took our information. She gave us a mobile phone, which she said they would call when our room was ready. We dropped off our bags with the attendant until our room was ready and took this opportunity to explore the property.
First, we enjoyed a light breakfast at Te Tiare Restaurant. A hot and cold buffet is served daily for breakfast and lunch. Throughout our stay we sampled Tahitian specialties, French pastries and fresh fruit. The InterContinental is set on about 30 acres of lush tropical greenery with panoramic views of Tahiti and the adjacent island of Moorea. We walked the length of the property, checking out the on-site restaurants, bars, water sports and pools. After our stroll, we made our way to the spa for a couple’s spa treatment. This was a highlight of our stay.
Our bags were delivered to our standard room overlooking Moorea. I appreciated the complimentary WiFi, separate bathtub and shower, private balcony and his-and-hers sinks. We dined at each of the InterContinental’s dining options. Le Lotus Restaurant is a standout, with its intimate overwater setting and breathtaking views. Tahiti is ideal for relaxation. Other than a quick trip into Papeete one morning, we opted to stay on the property and relax. A variety of on- and off-site activities are available to book via the concierge both complimentary and for a fee. It’s hard to beat lounging by the water. Be aware: There is a towel rental fee in the public areas.
With its central location, beautiful views and spectacular spa, the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa is a perfect destination for your stay in paradise.
