Florida is a state steeped in culture and has a rich history as one of the most diverse and dynamic states in the country. There’s no better place to learn about its storied past than the Museum of Florida History in Tallahassee.

Opened in 1977, the museum houses a collection of rotating exhibits featuring artifacts from throughout the past. It’s also home to numerous educational programs that showcase how the state and its residents helped shape the nation.

Popular permanent exhibitions include showcases of Florida’s role in both the Civil War and World War II as well as a history on the various naval ships named after the state. The best exhibit, perhaps, is the exposé into the era before Florida became part of the United States.

During my trip, I was fascinated by the rich heritage of the region and the fun, interactive attractions. The museum was surprisingly detailed and informative and I was pleasantly surprised by how interested I became in learning more about Florida and its denizens. It’s much larger than you might expect once you step inside and there’s enough to keep one busy for an entire afternoon. History buffs might actually get lost in here.

If you’re ever in Tallahassee I certainly recommend checking it out.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips.
