Though a luxury brand, The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago for many years was in need of some remodeling. Thankfully, those much-needed changes were made over the last year, and this summer, the hotel revealed the results of its multimillion-dollar revitalization

New designs boast a fresh, contemporary and modern look, with cues taken from the city’s beautiful architecture and industrialism. Additionally, skyline views are a large focus throughout.

“Every venue and detail embraces the grandeur of Chicago, recapturing our heritage with approachable luxury, landmark service and community soul. The hotel is part of the fabric of the city, and will continue to set the standard for luxury in Chicago. It’s where legacy and vibrancy meet,” said Peter Simoncelli, general manager, The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago.

“The creative re-design takes inspiration from the city, unveiling a true sense of place. Throughout the entire property, we have connected design elements of the building’s historic exterior and brought the inspiration and energy of Chicago inside. As a result, The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago, sets the stage for a modern experience in the middle of the skyline,” added Billy Quimby, principal, BAMO, the design firm in charge of the renovations.

The most striking changes are found in the lobby, ballroom, on-site restaurants and spa. The lobby’s new focal point is a hand-blown glass sculpture inspired by Lake Michigan, and its artistic properties make for a different experience, based on time of day. Gray marble columns and metallic partitions add definition to social public spaces. In the ballroom, now the largest luxury ballroom in the city at 14,000 square feet, the chandelier with its 400,000 crystals is newly restored, and an additional, smaller ballroom is added for events of up to 220 people. A new dining option is Torali, Italian – Steak, a modern Italian steakhouse on the 12th floor, with an adjacent bar. Meanwhile, the new spa takes inspiration from the lake, and displays a pleasing palette of soothing hues, stone and walnut.
