While cheap flip-flops may work for some, others prefer a more stylish option while yachting around the Mediterranean or relaxing on a foreign beach. Boat shoes are the go-to accessory for water-loving travelers, but they can cause a number of problems. Namely, boat shoes are made of leather — a material that can become ruined from exposure to harsh sand and saltwater. Luckily, one company designed a contemporary alternative to the classic boat shoe. SWIMS, a company known for their sleek modern take on the galosh, released their new line of durable, water-resistant shoes.
The SWIMS Lace Loafer uses a TPU outer shell paired with a mesh nylon ceiling and lining with rubber accents while still retaining the classic, laced boat shoe design. Each shoe features a number of air slits for breathability and has an anti-slip sole for increased stability on slippery docks and boat decks. Additionally, the loafer can double as a water shoe to protect vulnerable feet from jagged coral or rocks on the ocean floor. The design comes in eight different color combinations, including gray/white, khaki/white, navy, navy/white, black, black/white, brown, and blue/red. The lace loafer is designed for both men and women and is machine washable.
