Outdoor brand KEEN has come up with a revolutionary design for a pair of all-terrain sandals it has christened UNEEK. Unlike conventional models, UNEEK sandals are constructed from two lengths of parachute cord mounted on a polyurethane sole unit.

One length of parachute cord is intricately woven into an “outer” section which encases the foot, while the second length acts to tighten and loosen the sandal around your foot. The free-moving cord design allows the sandals to mold around your feet for improved comfort, while the sole is sturdy enough to deal with hiking on dirt trails, and its non-marking rubber construction provides good grip.

The footbed is designed to provide arch support and fit around the contours of the foot, but the most distinctive feature of the sandals is surely the design. It’s certainly unique, and wearers will definitely get a lot of attention, but it’s not just a gimmick. The UNEEK sandals are built to last and comfy enough to wear for extended periods of time.

Both men’s and women’s versions are available from the KEEN website in a variety of different colors, all of which cost $100. The company recommends buying half a size larger than normal for a perfect fit. If you’re looking to try out a new model of all-terrain sandals, UNEEK could be a good direction to take.
