Get behind the wheel of a Land Rover Discovery 4 and explore the Land of Fire and Ice with a new self-drive tour across Iceland from Frontiers International Travel.
The five-day journey takes adventure enthusiasts across the country’s glaciers and magma fields, past its towering volcanoes and beautiful waterfalls and through snow, ice and sand.
Guests travel with a minimum of two Land Rover experienced instructors and are also provided the added services of a tour director. Included in the itinerary are luxury boutique accommodations and food and drinks throughout the journey.
Highlights of the journey include visits to the magnificent geysers, glaciers and waterfalls of Iceland’s Golden Circle; drives through challenging snow and ice conditions with expert guidance from Land Rover experienced instructors; navigating on black volcanic beaches; snowmobiling on the Langjökull Glacier; views of the Northern Lights; and comfortable overnight accommodations.
Multiple itineraries are available in February and March 2016 starting at $7,159 per person. A sample itinerary includes:
Day One: Arrival in Keflavík, Iceland, with overnight accommodations at Hotel Borg.
Day Two: Hop behind the wheel of a Land Rover for the first time for a drive along Iceland’s Route 1, with accommodations at Hotel Ion in Thingvellir National Park.
Day Three: Driving to Skógafoss Waterfall, one of the largest waterfalls in the country.
Day Four: A day of exploring Iceland’s famed Golden Circle and an afternoon of snowmobiling.
