Small, budget weddings may be stretched to have an open, full bar where guests can select from a number of base alcohols. Instead, many vendors are able to provide a more budget-friendly open bar that has a couple of beer and wine options, Champagne and what’s becoming known in wedding parlance as a “signature cocktail.”
The signature cocktail is a fun way to put your own spin on the drinks side of the wedding without breaking the budget. The cocktail is usually the only one offered at the bar and is pretty straightforward to make. Most involve Champagne, which is great because you can offer your guests straight bubbly or the option of adding fruit juice or a mixer to the Champagne for a cocktail. Often, it’s possible to even incorporate your theme or some seasonality to the drink, with seasonal fruit or mixers that sport your wedding colors.
The signature cocktail helps keep things simple but fun. You can take the time to come up with your own. The Knot has some great ideas or you can ask if your catering company or bartender has ideas.
