One could argue that when Paul, John and George let Ringo write songs for The Beatles they might not have known what they were getting into at first. Ringo seemed to have a fascination with life under the sea from either reading Jules Verne stories or potentially a little too much LSD. Regardless, Ringo wanted “to be under the sea in an octopus’ garden in the shade” and it seems a number of hotel developers don’t think he’s alone. Around the world, more and more underwater hotels are popping up, or technically down.
Not surprisingly, Dubai is one of the places where there exist a number of underwater hotels where guests can “swim with the fishes” in a pleasant way, not in a just killed by the mob sort of way with more. One of these is the WebUrbanist Hotel, Poseidon Mystery Island where guests stay in hundreds of available rooms at a depth of nearly 50 feet.
The Poseidon Resorts Company has a number of other properties located in exotic locations around the world including Fiji and Zanzibar. For a pretty penny, visitors to Zanzibar have their choice of underwater deluxe rooms with the Manta Resort on Pemba Island perhaps offering guests the most spectacular underwater views of the Indian Ocean and its sea life.
The Utter Inn in Sweden also offers guests an opportunity to live under the sea but the above-the-water design of the resort is typically Scandinavian in its design.
