Top Trends

How will we be in traveling in the next decade? According to a three-part Future of Travel 2024 report by Skyscanner, a number of trends will shape the future of travel, and how travelers select vacation destinations and hotels in the next decade. Here’s a quick look at the way we are shaping the future of the travel industry.

The final frontier for travelers will be space. By 2024, expect some of your fellow travelers to be experiencing sky resorts with zero-gravity spas, space gliders and space observatories. Underwater tourism will also peak in popularity, a more affordable, mainstream option.

As for hotels, expect hyper-personalization. Travelers will be able to book rooms through their mobile devices and customize even the tiniest details, including air temperature and shower settings.

When it comes to those destinations we’d never dream of visiting right now, think again. The emergence of forbidden zones, or areas currently deemed inaccessible by conflict, is also becoming attractive option for travelers (searches for travel to Bhutan were up by 40 percent on Skyscanner in 2013), and will only increase in the next decade.
