Tips / Destination

In April, SleepBus launched its first prototype bus that allows customers who don’t wish to fly or have no interest in sitting in a bus seat for nearly 10 hours another option. Getting to both LAX and SFO airports has never been fun and while driving is certainly an option, neither city is a fantastic place to have a car, although one is essentially necessary in Los Angeles.

That’s where SleepBus stepped into the equation. For $48 each way, SleepBus customers are treated to an individual sleeping pod that essentially allows them to “teleport” between the two cities by leaving the departure city at 11 p.m., for a trip that lasts about 6.5 hours with convenient downtown departure and arrival points. For those that need their eight hours of shuteye, SleepBus allows customers to continue sleeping after arrival until 9 a.m.

In addition to your personal sleeping pod equipped with fresh linens provided by Casper, customers who have a bit of work to do can enjoy free WiFi as well as an endless supply of coffee or tea. While that is certainly going to make sleep a bit difficult, it is an option.

Perhaps the biggest appeal of SleepBus is the luggage allowance. Each rider/sleeper is allowed three full-sized bags and a bicycle at no charge beyond the $48. SleepBus is also promising its customers the opportunity to bring pets in the future when it adds to its fleet.
