Trends / Voluntourism

Ecotourism is great. Traveling to help the environment is noble and often fun. This can help the environment and the individuals by increasing awareness and activism rates. However, sometimes local ecosystems in your own backyard can be in need of a little love, too. Here’s how you can help the environment and explore areas unknown, no matter where you are.

Find Your Park

The National Park Service has a user-friendly online tool to help visitors locate parks within a geographical region.

Volunteer

There are many ways you can help the NPS. Whether it is trail maintenance, landscaping or picking up trash, all of these things can help preserve an environment, making it healthier for plants and animals.

Branch Out

If you live in the United States, the odds are high you are within a hundred miles of several dozen national and state parks. For example, New Yorkers might think they have to go thousands of miles to escape the bustle of the city. This is untrue! Palisades Interstate Park in New Jersey is less than an hour away. The same can be said about nearly anywhere in the United States, as the NPS attempts to make natural resources available to all; you can help!

Whether you live in San Antonio, Texas, or Paris, France, you do not have to traverse the globe to help save the environment. There are things you can do each and every day to help the planet.
