Luxury resort brand Soneva invites guests to meet popular rugby and soccer players as part of its Soneva Stars series. The award-winning Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani in the Maldives welcomes the athletes beginning this month and through the fall.

World Cup champion David Villa, hailed as one of the best soccer strikers, visits Soneva Jani July 20–31. Following his retirement from the game, Villa founded a company offering soccer camps and clinics to children around the world. Mexican soccer player Rafael Márquez hosts a series of soccer camps for young guests at Soneva Fushi July 25–Aug. 8.
Later in the fall, English rugby player Ben Cohen visits both Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani to host fitness workshops Oct. 15–30. French international soccer player Mikaël Silvestre visits Soneva Jani to host his popular children’s soccer camps in October and December.

During the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Nov. 21–Dec. 18, Silvestre will be on site at Soneva Fushi as a resident commentator on the games. Côte d’Ivoire-born soccer star Yaya Touré will live comment on the games from Soneva Jani.
