For children, a tree house is a place to escape, a private sanctuary among the trees to get away for a while. As we get older, we grow out of these havens and leave them in the past. However, the people behind Free Spirit Spheres reimagined this childhood memory and provided an alternative to typical hotel accommodations.
Located in the rainforest on the western coast of Vancouver Island sit the three spheres — Eve, Eyrn and Melody. Each sphere, swaying high above the forest floor and inspired by the detailed craftsmanship of sailboats, offers its own unique living space where guests can spend the night.
Eve, the oldest of the spheres, measures nine feet in diameter, while Eryn is slightly larger at 10.5 feet. Melody, while the same size as Eryn, offers a more luxurious design — its fiberglass exterior is painted in a bright yellow mural while its interior consists of black-walnut features and an open-floor concept.
A one-night stay in the Free Spirit Spheres runs $160 to $225 per guest. For safety reasons, only guests 16 or older are allowed to stay in the spheres.
