Study Abroad: A Semester in Zürich

A semester in Zürich through the ISEP program is the perfect opportunity to explore the country of Switzerland. The ISEP-Exchange program for U.S. students has three different options for international study. They have an academic program lasting a year from September to May, a semester opportunity from September to December and another from February to May.

With a citizenship of roughly 370,000 people, Zürich is a great city for exploring all that Switzerland has to offer without being too overwhelming or distracting for the average college student. The city resides in the German-speaking part of the country, so you’ll want to brush up on the language before you go.

The program takes place at the Universität Zürich and offers courses in all of the primary areas, including art, social sciences, law, economics and business. Students with a limited grasp of German will have a tough, but not impossible, time finding courses to fulfill their requirements. Graduate students must be pre-requisite language requirements before obtaining admission.

The Athletic Association offers more than 70 different sports programs for you to enjoy, while the Erasmus Student Networks put together group trips to go skiing or exploring with other students, so you won’t be stuck in your room alone.

The city is known as the cultural center of Switzerland and renowned for being both economically and socially liberal with its policies. It’s also nestled near the Swiss Alps, so you’ll never run out of places to explore.
