Trends / Voluntourism

Cambodia is an oft-visited country in Southeast Asia in desperate need of teachers. The families here experienced decades of economic hardship after fighting expensive and devastating wars, but have made wonderful efforts to overcome the odds. However, the children often lack basic educational opportunities, which is why Travellers Worldwide is hoping to send folks over to give them a hand.

The voluntourism opportunity will put you in the classroom to help teach English, a necessary skill in a country with such a high tourism business, along with other abilities like how to grow gardens in order to help keep their families fed.

The program offers volunteer housing and meals. You’ll have a bed in either a hotel/hostel, homestay or possibly even an apartment with other volunteers during your stay. The program lengths vary from anywhere between one week to 12 months, depending on your availability.

When you’re not teaching, you’ll have the opportunity to experience an amazingly unique country on the rebound and a vastly different culture from what you’ve experienced here at home. Cambodia is an affordable country to travel in and it also puts you close to other countries you can experience too.
