Tech-Minded Security from iGia

The latest newcomer to the smart home game is iGia, maker of a digital security kit that aims to protect your entire home. The package comes with several devices that secure all aspects of your house, all controlled by a central control unit and smartphone app.

A set of motion detectors utilize passive IR technology to sense intruders, whether they’re inside or outside breaking in. A smart camera lets you monitor a video feed, and when combined with sensors, gives you complete coverage over your home, not limited to the camera’s field of vision.

Also packaged are an app, a smart smoke detector and an emergency alarm trigger. The app can be downloaded for both Android and iOS, and but can also utilize the packaged control unit, which can communicate with the sensors through up to five walls, around 30 meters inside a home or up to 800 meters of open space.

Enhancing this network of security is iGia’s cloud system, which manages information coming from the sensors and uploads them to a server. With its intelligent algorithms, the system avoids false alarms and keeps the user informed.

The iGia security system is currently seeking funding on Indiegogo and plans to begin production and shipping at the end of this year.
