Bergan’s of Norway has long been a respected brand in outdoor apparel. Their wide array of clothing and gear spans outerwear, base layers and everything in between, plus tents and backpacks.
The Tovdal Women’s Shirt is a great option for stylish flannel. Though 100 percent cotton, the shirt is thick and will keep you warmer than most cotton tops. Just don’t get it wet.
The shirt features a flattering, feminine cut with front pockets and snaps rather than buttons. And there are snap adjustments if you plan to roll up the sleeves. The Tovdal also has reinforced elbows for added longevity if you’re hard on your clothes.
The Tovdal is sold in several colors: orange, blue and red check, plus a solid brown. Perhaps the only downside is the shirt arrives extremely stiff, with little give. It takes a few washes before it softens up, but the first few times you wear it, it feels constricting and slightly uncomfortable, with the collar standing straight up.
Still, the shirt is a great purchase, and one likely to last much longer than typical cotton tops, most of which are woefully thin these days.
