If you are lucky enough to have a fireplace in your home or visit somewhere that has one, knowing how to get a fire started is essential. There are a couple different methods that will serve you well.
The first is the option of purchasing pre-packaged, eco-friendly logs. Duraflame makes these as well as many other manufacturers and they offer a great low-maintenance way to get a fire started. All you have to do is place the log in the fireplace and light it.
The second option is to invest in some inexpensive fire starters that act like ready-made kindling and some very dry wood. This gives you the experience of creating a fire from scratch without as much effort as it actually involves. These fire starters can be purchased on Amazon or Google Express.
The last way to start a fire is the old-fashioned way and it involves kindling, newspaper, wood and matches. There is an art to this and it takes some time to develop. You will need to properly layer your materials in order to get a kindling nest going before adding the larger pieces of dry firewood. A set of bellows might also be a fine investment since your fire will need oxygen to grow. Consult WikiHow for step-by-step instructions.
