Traveling with your spouse can either be a wonderful experience that helps strengthen your relationship or a nightmare that leads to divorce. The choice is yours and depends heavily upon how you each choose to behave. Here are some tips to keep things harmonious on your next getaway.
Plan Ahead
Rather than choose where to sightsee at random, sit down and plot out a course ahead of time. That way there’s no arguing about when and where to go. Leave time for each of your interests and split them evenly.
Rest
One of the hardest parts of traveling is fitting in enough sleep, especially with jet lag holding you down. Make sure you’re both well rested to avoid snapping at each other due to exhaustion.
Be Romantic
No matter where you are, find a way to incorporate romance into your travels. Choose at least one night and make it a date night, rather than a touristy day. Keep things simple and focus on each other.
Spend Time Apart
No matter how in love with each other you are, everyone needs alone time every once in awhile. If you’re on a long trip together it’s okay to take a few hours to go do different things, whether it’s sightseeing or just spending time alone at the pool.
Go With Friends
If all else fails, surround yourself with other people. Couples are less likely to fight when other people are around because all of the activity will make you less focused on your partner’s possibly annoying behaviors.
