Top 5 / North America

There is something about the American amusement park that can bring out the kid in anyone. Why do we love them? They give us a sense of old-fashioned Americana and nostalgia. Even if you didn’t grow up going to many of these amusement parks, there is still a chance you have a memory of one. And if you went, you might recall eating cotton candy and corn dogs while walking through the made-up network of boardwalks or streets that comprise these lands of mini-adventures. Here are some of the most famous classic American amusement parks.

Coney Island
Coney Island still has everything it was known for in the past — the beach, the Cyclone ride and the original Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog. It is just an hour away from the hustle and bustle of New York.

Cedar Point
Cedar Point is located on the shores of Sandusky, Ohio. It still has some classic roller coasters like the mine ride and the Gemini, but it pairs this with the best roller coasters around. So if you enjoy roller coasters, this is your place.

Lagoon
Lagoon, Salt Lake is known as Utah’s first amusement park since it opened in 1886. There is still plenty to do from Pioneer Park to rides like the Cliffhanger. Little kids will find plenty to do here, too.

Idlewild
Idlewild is definitely geared toward little kids and has plenty of rides for them. It also offers Story Book Forest and a water park.

Belmont Park
Belmont Park, San Diego is a park that has been around for a while and offers classic rides like the tilt-a-whirl, a carousel, and the crazy submarine.
