Top 5 / North America

New Orleans is a lively city all year long, but the Crescent City exudes added charm during the holiday season with its special events and activities. These are our favorite activities during the holiday season in New Orleans.

Caroling in Jackson Square

This version of the classic holiday tradition began in 1946. The one-night event attracts thousands of visitors to Jackson Square. Both amateur and professional singers croon classic carols, while holding candles for a breathtaking illuminating effect.

LUNA Fête

Hosted by the Arts Council New Orleans, LUNA Fête is a visionary holiday festival using the city’s landscape as a platform for celebrating public artworks using light and technology. The multi-day celebration features illuminated installations, digital sculptures, video-mapping projections and art animated by technology.

NOLA ChristmasFest

Held Dec. 16–30, NOLA ChristmasFest is a family-friendly holiday festival featuring indoor events and activities including an ice skating rink, carnival rides, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, crafts and more than 70 decorated Christmas trees.

Reveillon Dinners

Meaning “awakening,” Reveillon dinners are a Creole tradition, dating back to the 1800s. Throughout the month of December, dozens of the city’s best restaurants offer special four-course holiday meals. Pre-fixe prices start at $34 and vary by restaurant.

St. Louis Cathedral Concert Series

The iconic French Quarter church in Jackson Square hosts free concerts featuring prominent New Orleans musicians, church choirs and singers across classical, gospel, jazz and pop genres. All concerts are open to the public.
