Top 5 / Middle East

Doha, Qatar, is a popular layover for those traveling anywhere between the West and East. It’s also home to some pretty spectacular restaurants. Don’t be afraid to step out of the airport and have a bite next time you find yourself here waiting on a plane.

Market by Jean-Georges

The atmosphere of Market is a unique concept, set up like what you might imagine an actual marketplace might look like. The food here is more upscale than not, and the tuna tartare is a local favorite.

IDAM

IDAM is run by world-famous chef Alain Ducasse, the guy who trained many familiar faces like Gordon Ramsay, so you know you’re in for a treat. The cuisine here is described as French Mediterranean with Arabic influences. It’s one of the few places where camel is part of the menu.

Toro Toro

Toro Toro is a splendidly South American treat in the middle of the desert. The tapas-style plates here leave diners always coming back for more. It might seem strange to suggest a South American restaurant in the Middle East, but one bite here and you’ll understand why it’s considered one of the 10 best in Doha.

La Spiga

The atmosphere here is casual and the food absolutely delicious. La Spiga serves up Italian cuisine that’s to die for; do yourself a favor and try the calamari appetizer before gorging on some traditional pasta and wine. The drinks are expensive, as is the food, so be warned.

Isaan

Isaan is the place to go in Doha for authentic Thai cuisine. You’ll share plates here, so it’s a great way to try out much of the menu. The soups are delicious and the curry is hot, just the way it should be.
